    Hello all,

A Socal rider here saying hello and I'm excited to soon own a Fourth Gen VFR. In late June I was cut off by an inpatient motorist on my way home from work and went down. I went down on my 1996 CBR 600F3, the bike received several scrapes, a cracked left fairing and a broken brake lever. I on the other hand, I broke my arm and then had surgery several weeks later. I'm riding now again and all is better. My bike was picked up yesterday by the insurance company and I am waiting on a check for another bike, the insurance company deemed it a total loss. The real kicker is I bought the CBR for $1700 and the insurance company is cutting me a check for $3013! VFR time! Enough babbling, glad to be here and hope to get my VFR soon. Any advice on a fair price to pay for a good condition Fourth Gen VFR with low to moderate mileage would be greatly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    David Matthew

Seems like that insurance check would be a good budget even for a pretty decent 5th gen...Theres a 6th gen for sale on my island right now for 3500 - looks like pretty nice condition and comes with all kinds of extra stuff like stock seat, stock exhaust, stock windscreen, and more..So theres gotta be other deals on older models.

Thank you for the welcomes. I live in Riverside county in SoCal and it seems the market or asking price for the Fourth Gen $2500 to $3900. I found two Fourth Gen gems, a 1996 for the asking price of $3900 with 10.5k miles and a 1997 for the asking price of $3300 with 24k miles. I want to enter negotiations with the owners but I want to start off at a fair negotiation price, I do not want to offend them and then simply they say, "No way" or No deal". What would you all think a fair price would be to start off negotiations?
