    Team,
    Quick introduction,
While looking for a nice cheap track bike I've managed to purchase a bitza VFR 400rr (NC21 - 24) running for a song...
My goal is to do some track days on it without stacking it, then race it as a post classic (pre 1989).

No manual and no idea what I'm doing but the bike was sold with the following specs....

NC21 Frame, NC24 Motor, NC21 Carbs, Dyno Tuned, Custom air-box, Carbon fibre muffler, Custom exhaust header collector, Modified sub-frame, CBR400 Modified front forks, Modified rear shock, 17" VT250 Spada front and rear wheels, running total loss system... or so they said (again I have no idea)

So I'm on here to be able to ask stupid questions... and hopefully get the right answers

so catch you round the treads...

Total loss is usually associated with oiling. Some speedway bikes have a total loss system.. A couple of 400s in my club but they are stockers. Not many sold in the US..

In Oz, total loss refers to a lack of an alternator for weight or cornering advantage. My guess is that the bike has no charging system. Charge battery in bike, ride race, recharge battery. Was pretty common on the boldors due to the alternator sticking out so far on the right side.

Sounds like a really cool project bike that has tons of potential. As already mentioned, the folks in North America weren't blessed with these mighty 400cc machines so our experience is essentially nil however we have theoretical knowlege aplenty. The EU based members will have first hand experience that is bound to be of some assistance to you. I'm just looking forward to seeing pictures of the beast!

Total loss is referring to the charging system and has nothing to do with lubrication.

    Thanks for the welcome

Just been trying to find a descent picture....
    bike.jpg

This is a pic as it was delivered, I've only ridden the bike up and down the road after I got it, to make sure that it started, ran through the gears and then parked it up.

Did a deal with my wife that I would finish my girls bedrooms before Id start on the bike... if I can find the $$

I've also go a few boxes of parts that I have no idea what they are... electrical, motor, wheels, tyres and another set of broken plastics

Now this thing isn't going to be pretty, there are a lot of cable ties holding crap together but lets see what comes of it...
