Is there anything more lovely than the sound of a gear-driven cam Honda V4 on the honk? Perhaps, but you won't find it on ADV. So here's your chance to bathe your ears in that heavenly music at a price almost anyone can afford. Buy my 1993 VFR 750F for $1,618 American cash dollars, fire it up (in neutral please), close your eyes and goose it. Is that a blown small block Chevy? No friend, it's your "new" VFR.

What's the catch? In a nutshell, this is one ugly ass moto. Virtually every piece of plastic on it is cracked, broken, melted or just plain missing. And I can sum up the paint job in one word: Krylon. You've heard of 20-foot bikes? This is a 43-footer.

But let's not kid ourselves. We are Adventure Riders. We care not a whit what a bike looks like. We do not spend our days polishing chrome and our nights recounting rides to the Boot Hill Saloon. We demand that a motorcycle fulfill the needs of the soul, that it heed the call of the open road faithfully, that it answer when we ask. On this score, this VFR is a 10.

The Honda V4 is legendary for its reliability, and this one proves no exception. The odo reads 49K. It runs beautifully. I have personally field tested it to 120 mph and was comfortable doing so. It starts, it idles, it stops, it wheelies, it turns. All lights and switches work. The valves are in spec. The tires are in good. The horn even works.

Buy it to restore (though the plastic for these bikes is worth more than the mechanicals, sadly). Buy it to stunt. Make a naked bike out of it. Ride it to Tierra del Fuego. Paint it safety orange and give it to your son/daughter to learn on. Buy it just to hear the sound of the engine. Just buy it.

I'll also entertain trade offers for a large dual sport, preferably a Wee-Strom, Tiger or 950 ADV. (I'll throw in some cash, of course). What I WILL NOT entertain are stupid, low-ball offers. I'm not desperate and for this price I can just as easily keep it.
