Alright i wound up stumbling upon what may be a smokin deal on a 1990 VFR but the problem is from the pics i seen of it thus far all the fairings are gone from the accident it had. Im mostly concerned about the lack of avalibility of said parts. Now what i was wondering is if i could use 86-88 front fairings on this bike? I realise i may have to change some mounting points but what else changed between 2nd and 3rd gens? Other alternitive is fitting RC30 body work which would gain me a tail cowling as well...i can live with having an RC30 replica if thats the better way to go with this 90.

Or i have also been looking at replacement body work for the 94-97 VFRs. If i went that route i would probably order a complete one piece lower and a replacement upper along with a super sport style tail..

Either way what i need to know is which would be the easiest route to reskin this thing?

As far as I know, 86 - 88 fairings will not fit. I also know that 4th gen (94 - 97) front fairings will not fit, at least not without chainging the fairing stay as well. Plastic is gonna be difficult to get.

is the Fairing stay all that needs to be changed to upgrade the front of the bike to 94 plastics? I will be ordering Airtech fiberglass parts either way so if its a matter of bolt locations thats not really a big issue because of which...the airtech parts are not drilled leaving it up to the owner to make sure the parts fit correctly.

All parts for the 90-93 are available.

If I were you, I'd Turn it into the Pearl Crystal White type like the '93
    A CLASSIC IN MY OPINION...maybe I'm just Biased :)

Since you need most of the plastics... this shouldnt be difficult.
except the right mid panel in WHITE is discontinued.

but if you have to paint the tank to match anyway, just paint the right mid at the same time.

Try University Motors in ND. Mike Kolstad gave me some pretty sweet deals on the plastics! Saved BIG $$$$ when I was in your situation last year.

    Ask for Mike Kolstad

Paint for your bike (90-93) can be found at Color Rite's web site.

    Hope this helps

    Definitely get the HIGH MOUNT.
It looks like a different bike when the Rear Swingarm is entirely exposed!

Think Carbon...just dont go overboard with it.

My ride is the same as above with extras:
    Carbon- mirrors/levers/seat/triple tree cover/rear hugger
    Completely changes to look!!!

Seats/ bump pad are at the upolstry place getting covered right now.

If you dont want to spend the money...get a Carbon "look" 1/2 tank bra.
You can find them on Ebay for about $40

Bra and seat in carbon was just too much for me...though everyones different

    You could do that....

    Or you could 'fighter it.
Either way, the candy pearl white is the colour to do.
    Yes, I'm biased.

The headlight I used is a lot cheaper than the Buell parts, and easier to add on as well. Acerbis Cyclope(?) if I recall correctly, DOT approved and about $120 including the little fairing bit. Computer is a Trail Tech Vapor, which does not work very well and their product support is poor. I'd use an Acewell given the chance again.

    More pics later...

If you have 86-88 bodyparts in good shape you can sell it in no time. It wont fit your bike anyway.

I suggest looking at the Thurn Motorsport body parts. They have a one piece front and the sides are each one piece. High quality fiberglass work. The whole kit is about $800
