Hola SoCal folk. Just wanted to float this out there to see if there might be any interest. In our humble town of Escondido they have a car show event every Friday night beginning the first of April and running all the way through summer to the end of September. It's known as Crusin Grand as it is held on and around the old Main Street, Grand Ave. Anyway, to cut to the chase, they have an early season fund raising event that will be held this coming Sunday morning from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is no charge to the public, the car participants pay an entry fee to show their cars. I'm wondering if anyone is interested in making this a ride destination to meet up, have breakfast or brunch, and check out the cars. We could maybe take a local ride afterward or cruise over to Stone brewery to check that out. Pretty cool place if you haven't been there before. Any thoughts Yea or Na are welcome.
    John

Too late of a notice for me. Already planned something with the wife on Sunday, so I won't be able to make this one. That being said, it seems like most riders here need more of an advance notice. Who knows, maybe find a few that can make it. Good luck and ride safe!

    Cheers

What are they raising funds for? Gas money? Parking meters? Anti cannibal spray?

Outboard John, there is a chance of rain this Sunday in Orange County. Also, we have a big desert ride on Saturday, which locks Sunday out for another ride.

How about we do this another time? Me and OOTV had a group ride once and had breakfast at Beach Break Café in Oceanside then did a ride to Palomar. That was fun and would really like to repeat it with other VFR riders.

    Thoughts?

[only fun people allowed to attend--angry ones with attitude stay home]

Gas money I think. Those classic cars are thirsty!
Probably operating expenses. Traffic control, advertising, praises etc. for the coming year. I have yet to see any cannibals but will keep on the look out.

I did take a few with my phone........just to show you that I was there. Been really busy at my store though and haven't made time to down load the pics. Saturday was my last day open to the public at my toy store. 40 1/2 years in business! It's all that I have done (work) since high school so it's a little weird not opening the store every day. Busting my ass getting all the fixtures, shelving, office equipment and what not out of there. Has to be empty and clean by the week end. I will do my best to post a few pictures though. The event was lightly attended both by participants and spectators because of chance of rain. It was on the cool side but we dodged the rain during the event.

Wow, thats a long time to open and close a bussines. Congrats on retirement,(or not) hope ya didn't get to worked up and teary eyed...... Did that with my print shop, locking the door and turning off the lights for the last time was very strange...mixed emotions, mostly happy I didn't have to deal with the rude public. Ha

Sorry I missed it John. Been AWOL for a bit.

I guess no more saying hi at the toy store when I stop by Habit for a burger. Retirement has a nice ring to it though.
