I called my local bike shop the other day to get their prices on replacement plugs for my 02. He quoted me at just over $10 each. I was a bit set back by this as I was expecting around $18 each.

I asked him if the plugs were iridium plugs and he said no. Again I was a bit surprised because I've never seen a non iridium plug for this bike. He double checked his book and assures me it is a non iridium plug for an 02 VFR 800...

I'm not going to go with it, but just posting this because I'd never seen mention of an existing non iridium plug.

    maybe I just missed something.

depends what catalog he was looking at, did he say?
meaning just beacause the "Acme cheap sparkplug company" says that they have a plug that will fit your bike, doesn't mean it is a good plug or a recommended plug...

Iridium plugs are awesome but I'm not sure they were available yet when your '02 was built(???) and suspect that dealer's book calls for platinums...iridiums are still good for yours though.

Iridiums were specified on my 2000 RC51, so yes, they existed before '02.
