I can't remember if I have asked this before, or if I've only thought of asking, most likely the latter.

Has anyone put a different rear end, I.e. seat, sub frame, plastics from a different bike on on a fifth gen? I like the seat cowl look, but when one is installed on a fifth gen, it looks so heavy and thick. Does this seat cowl make my ass look big?

I think someone has done it with a sixth, I don't know about a fifth. What say you?

There is a member on VFRD who is dong a 5/6 Gen hybrid. Maybe they are doing something closer to what you're after. I don't recall the member's name though. It might be Deltboxii

5th/8th would be cool. Supposed to be lighter weight subframe on the 8th. Would give you integrated luggage too, if you like that sort of thing. The seat may not be as comfy, but it isn't horrible.
