Even with the new material on the '12 seat cover, which is ok with me, I could see I am rubbing the tank (ok its not the tank, it just the plastic side covers, but you know what I mean) and finding it difficult to 'get a grip'.

So I went and purchased the knee rubber aftermarket pads, and have not ridden with them yet, but thought I'd post a couple pics for you to see.

I looked at a few different brands and thought the Tech-Spec seemed nicest.

its gotta be better than the slippery tank sides.

    what you do think?

Nice! Tech-spec pads are great, helps make up for the sub-par seat and they look good on VFRs.

I have them installed, but they are a little small for the huge tank. They help some-I all ways lean on the tankpads and tank bag, it takes weight off my old back.

I like Tech Spec, have it on my track bike. Stomp Grip is a bit better for grip especially on track bikes but I don't like the look or the prickers.

i have them, i like them, didn't like the feeling of paint vs jeans as its just feels slippery, after you ride you may have to adj those forward, your knee is on the tank more than thigh, least mine is.

Pretty big selection of various fits for different bikes on the Ebay site. This could be used as a guide to use a set from another bike on a VFR.

The biggie is the tank protector that most seem to mount too high on the tanks offering little protection from metal snaps and zipper pulls.

Honda has a similar outfit that is made for bikes. ST's (??)

I just ordered the Honda Accessories ones, found them for $65 online. I'm gonna install them this weekend. I feel like anything to keep from sliding forward will be an improvement.

I had looked at the ones from Honda, http://powersports.honda.com/2012/vfr1200f-dct/accessories.aspx but could not find any in real life to see what the fake carbon looked like.
so instead, I did find the techspec ones on a real life bike, and liked the rubber texture of them.
thinking the ones from Honda Racing (Honda Racing on the pad looks cool, especially since I work there) but without knowing if they were plastic or rubber, I went with techspec.
when you get yours post up what they look like, and how they feel.

    thx, joe
