Is the wear here bad enough that I should look for a replacement or can I clean it up with some fine steel wool?

    More pics here.

some fine steel wool and some new seals and it will be fine. I redid mine it was 20 yrs old and works great be sure you replace the gasket, too. Apporx imate cost for parts from bikebandit.com $14 plus shipping. 1 gasket 1 oil seal and 1 piston cup
