Silly maybe... can I retrofit '86 gauges onto my '87?

Honestly, it's not even something I need to do... but I prefer the look of the round '86 gauge cluster to that of the blocky/bulky '87 cluster.

Anyone ever fit the older ones onto a newer bike? Details would be awesome. Or even a newer set onto the '87... it just seems the '87 had the ugliest gauge set for some reason.

    Thanks in advance!

I believe you will need the fairing stay as well. And the tach may not work... different ignition system....PLUS you willl need the fairing inserts off of the 86 .... if you have the guages plug them up and see what happens...LOL

I prefer the round ones to the square ones as well... but I have an 86 so.....

The tach will only read at half speed because the cam speed sensor was not used on the later bikes. Not that it can not be done but you may have to get a little "crafty" with your skills.
