Shock experts ???

    About 2 years ago i had a Fox shock for my '86 VFR --that had leaked when i bought it--rebuilt by an experienced guy, but when i went to install it now i found that all the fluid had leaked out while it was sitting on a shelf and i was mostly riding a Hawk or VTR 250.

    What might have gone wrong ??

    Two years. It's no big deal, i'm just wondering. Shouldn't new seals have fixed it ??

    My Fox Twin Clicker doesn't have any seals. It has O-rings. Were did the oil leak from? Bottom, top, remote reservoir? I have a rebuild manual on pc if you'd like I could e-mail to you or what ever. Sounds like he didn't do something right or may pinched an O-ring putting together.

    Thanks, Grey, might take you up on that offer.

    Leak seems to be from the opening where the shaft goes into the shock body.

    Yes, i should have stated O-rings when i referred to seals.

    You may be right about a seal for the rod. Mine has never leaked so no need to take that part off. I looked in the manual and the seal looks to be an internal boot type seal. Not a standard round spring pressure type.

    I'm also assuming our shocks are basically the same. I bought mine around 90.
