I woke up this morning at 6am had some coffee and departed at 7am for the backroads in Wisconsin. Rode through Prescott around 7:45am or so. Needed to be back by 2pm for a family commitment. I did a full service on the bike last week (oil and filter, air filter, plugs, coolant). While everything was off, gave it a nice bath and cleaned inside the panels. No leaks, nothing loose, etc. The VFR is a well engineered machine. Also, added the VFRness and put in a Ricks R/R. Well engineered perhaps with the exception of some aspects of the electrical system... Glorious ride. Nice and cool outside, not too many bugs. The VFR is a great machine. Great sound, more than enough power to get in trouble. I hit the twisties (we call them the alphabet roads in WI) pretty hard and wish I could have stayed out longer but it was a nice blast and the best way to shake off a rough week. The VFR went through a tank of fuel so I topped up at Dave's Shell in Minneapolis as they have non-oxygenated fuel which I try to run in all of the bikes and my Subaru Legacy GT. I pulled in the garage and thought I would check all of the fasteners. So, as I check for all of the clips and fasteners, I revel in the fact that everything is nice and tight and all clips are in place. With the exception of a few bugs, it looks good. I put a bit of chain lube on and check the oil level. As I walk out of the garage, I steal a last look. License plate dangling by one fastener. Nice.
