Hello all, After paying honda for full service during its 49000 mile life it turns out the valves have never been done or a record of the plugs replaced(THEY MUST HAVE BEEN?),now the bike is stripped for winter i will take my time and save at least £500 by doing it myself. The only problem is the stoppers and price of the honda shims(£9.00 each),any options???.

You neglected to mention the year and model bike you have in your post but did mention the word "stoppers" so I'm assuming that you're talking about a 2002-2009 VFR800 here Farty.

In that case a Hot Cams 7.48mm O.D. valve shim kit will do the job for you. You can find them on Ebay for around $75.00 US.

The kit comes in two boxes. One box has the valve shims from 1.20mm to 2.40mm the other has the valve shims from 2.45mm to 3.50mm for a total of 47 different sizes for you to choose from. You get three shims in each size and the sizes are clearly listed right on the shims.

I picked up a set of the slide pin stoppers at Ron Ayers here in the US. The part number for them is 07XMZ-MCEA100. They come in a package of 8 and cost about $20.00 US.

Here's the link to the Ron Ayers webpage. Click me.>>>>>STPR SLIDE PIN(PK8) - Search : 07XMZ-MCEA100
