    Hello.
Today I wanted to fit crash protectors made by r&g.
I was hoping that will be done within couple hours!
Unfortunately front engine mounting bolt has stack and now doesn't have head neither I have tried to drill it but without success.
I know this need to be fixed as this is main mounting bolt.
What can I do? Tried to hammer it but without luck.
    HELP please!

try loosening the other engine mount bolts and putting a piece of wood and a floor jack under the oil pan to slightly lift the engine, the engine might have it stressed and loosening the other bolts and taking the weight off it might give it enough free play so you can tap it out.

I am not familiar with 5th gen fairing design or mounting, but fitting R&G frame sliders on the 6th Gen models (which does not look hugely different did not involve removing any engine mounting bolt? Just remove fairing, replace coolant tank, remove really long cross frame nut/bolt (is this the bolt you have hit problems with? if so apply plenty of releasing agent to nut end and wait an hour. Then molegrips on damaged bolt end and release using a proper sized spanner on the other end. Don't be too worried as once that bolt is out, its heading for the bin as its replaced by the slider bar. Get assistant to correctly locate and hold in place one die of the fairing, whilst you put a dob of white paint on end of slider bar and push it through from the other side to place a drilling location mark the inside of the fairing - swap sides and repeat with other fairing. Drill two neat holes using the marks for centres. Refit fairings, install frame slider and jobs done - 2 hours should be enough.

If its another bolt then a decent motorfactors will sell reverse threaded drills (you need a power drill with reverse) and stud extractor kits which should work if you have enough material to play with and decent access.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Oh and WELCOME to the forum !!!

Even on the 6g, mounting the R&G frame sliders requires the removal and complete replacement of the front engine hanger bolt. It's in the service manual on page 7-10, for the non-believers......All it will take is to loosen up the other motor mount bolts, jack the engine up slightly and a hammer and drift should get the damaged bolt out. Take care to keep track of the spacers that mount between the engine and the frame, when you tap it out.

Ditto to everything NCB said, it is an engine mounting/support bolt, take the stress offa it, spray some lube at it, maybe run the engine a lil to get things nice and vibrated and warm, then try to punch it out again.

    AAAAaaaaaaand :worthless:

Pics man, pics will help us help you, lots. Good luck sir!!
