I am new to the site and somewhat new to the VFR, I have been riding for years but my father just gave me his 02 VFR for my birthday! I am a united states Marine stationed at Beaufort SC. Dont have much money to upgrade the bike, but I do have Heli bars, zero gravity shield, and throttle misters! If any one can help me I have a few questions. 1. I have some play in the throttle and wondering if anyone knows how to tighten up the slack beside the nuts on the throttle cable? 2. Was wondering is there is any at home tuning that you can do to the bike for better performance, something around the lines of bypassing O2 sensors or adjusting idle settings? If there is anyone that is planning a ride into / around SC please let me know and if I am not deployed I will be more than happy to meet up to ride in SC with you! I wil post pictures as soon as I get some time, I just got back from a 7 month deployment so still getting used to being home! Semper Fi Sgt "Sig" Sauer U.S. Marine Embark Chief VMFA(AW)-224
Boo Yah What a stroke of good fortune, a VFR as a gift. Welcome to the site. Glad to see you made it home safe. and Thanks from all of us. The throttle adjustments with the nuts is easy to do. If your Dad didn't have one buy a manual. the factory one costs $60.00 there are others made by Clymer or Haynes try them. I had all three for my 86 VFR. If you can field strip an M60 you can do a throttle adj. Make sure the cables are secure and not flopping around I believe acceptable throttle free play is one sixteenth of an inch. you didn't say if he had any engine or exhaust mods but since the 02 vfr is Fuel INjected there is not much you can do without adding some gizmo Power Commander or some other fuel management device. $$$ Hey guys, feel free to chime in and help out one of our Marines welcome again and good luck exNavy Nuke ET Dan
:welcome: to the site, and welcome home ! Theres plenty of people here that can help you with mods. I'm just not one of them, as i'm some what new to VFR's my self.
welcome here and welcome back. Try a search in the menu bar that says 'search forums' It's under the silver button that says VFR info. Just type in a single mod you are interested in, say 'air box mod' or something like that and see what you can find. You can also go specifically to the forum for whchever generation you have, and then there's the wiki. It is still a work in progress but anyone is welcome to add to it...
