For those (however many/few there are) that have removed the passenger pegs and mounts from their vfr (specifically for 3rd and 4th gen), how did you work around the seat latch mechanism? I am working on doing an undertail exhaust and am considering removing the passenger pegs. I don't ride 2 up anyway so I don't really need them. I know the seath release is combined with the helmet lock (what engineer was smoking weed when they thought that one up?, lol), so if anywone has a workaround or alternate way of releasing the seat, please let me know as I would be interested in how you set it up.

    Thanks in advance,

    pegless seat lock

sorry, I wish I had a photo of my bike to show, I removed the rear sets to made a bracket for the exhaust and just cut off the left side peg supports just above the body work. that leaves the support for lifting the bike on the center stand and the seat release. picked up a new left foot peg assy. from an online Honda warehouse for less than $60. (just in case)

What i was going to do was remove the cable from the lock and tuck it up into the subframe somehow (maybe make a clip or use velcro). Then, when i needed to remove the seat, i could pull the cable out and use a pair of pliers to give it a tug. Not very fancy but would work until i can make a lever to actuate it.

    I did this..

I took the pegs off mine..I bought a set off ebay and did a little grinding. I didn't bother to change the lock over since I always have the seat cowl fitted with tamper proof fitting screws. It's not difficult to do.

Here you can see the fitted version and also a pic of the modified one against the original. ( actually it's not the original, it's another spare)

Guess I will have to keep an eye out on ebay for a rear left side pass peg. Thanks guys, I appreciate the assistance. You can see what I have done so far in the Modifications forum titled 3rd Gen Undertail Project.

hey guys, I removed my foot pegs and the helmet lock as well but just left the cable there. When I need to pop open the seat I pull the cable head. works just fine.
