Searching for the City of Gold

I have a dream... I have a dream of standing in the middle of field, donning a backpack full of metric tools; before me a vast army of once proud iron horses now destined to be picked apart and resurrected piece by piece. In the Midwest, where I live, these "fields of dreams" don't weather well because of the high humidity but I have seen pictures of such "El Dorado's" possibly located in the dry western part of the U.S. So the big question is does anyone here know if such places really do exist???
