sealant on clutch cover gasket??

    I am replacing my clutch and am wondering if the clutch cover gasket should have any sealant , silicone etc...the old one was on there so good thats what makes me wonder...i have to really work to get the old one off thanks

    It doesn't 'need' it, but having some on there is kinda like having insurance, imo

    getting all the old material off is important, and the sealer is optional.
    it wouldn't be unusual to spend far more time cleaning mating surfaces than changing clutch plates.
    Last time i used PB Blaster on scotchbrite pads to clean and scrape after first removing as much as possible with razorblade......

    you know I think I put a little on there when I did my 5g not too long ago. It's probably in the write up but I don't feel like looking it up right now. :smile:
