I know I've been threatening for a while, but I listed Scratch for sale. She's been a good girl but it just isn't fair to let her sit all the time.

A younger guy that has been riding an EX 500 came by to check her out today and seemed pretty interested.

He's still pretty local so I'd probably see her around.

She's been with me nearly ten years now so it's kind of weird to think about her leaving.

The real question is whether you have your eyes on another ride

If I may make some suggestions?

Are you providing an "extra engine"? If yes you need to list this first. And by itself. If its condition is relatively good, describe that. Describe why you have a second engine?

Is "firestone" a decal? If yes you should remove it. It mucks up the continuity of the body.

Do you perform due diligence with the fluids? If yes you need to list that and describe how the bike was taken care of. Describe that the charging system works fine, there are no shorts. Are the tires new enough to brag about?

"Possibly a few things I'm forgetting."

I suggest you get organized now. Collect the manual, tools, extras. Take up close pictures of them for the ad. These all demonstrate a special dedication over someone that just rode the bike, did nothing to it, and now is pawning it off on some sucker.

Unfortunately there is little you can do about Scratch's sad look. Are you good with Photoshop? Maybe you can paint in a false smile, or at least a look like the Mona Lisa where we aren't quite sure what the bike is thinking.

From one that's sorta kept a good ear to how this particular VFR as been treated, that and it's almost a family member here, there's a lot of local to Reg folks that can if need be attest to the bike's condition, LOL hope that's a good thing, yes it's been used, but I'd all most say not abused, But for a quick painless sale, I'd say Reg is doing fair here. as sad as it is I get life moves on. The good here is Reg will have another one, once bitten as Reg surly has been he will have another Scratch, sooner than later. The story's that VFR could tell.

I take it Scratch was adopted by a loving family seeing as the Craigslist is gone. Hell. If I lived down there I would have bought that bike. I've ridden it and at that time, it rode fine.

No. I just let the ad expire. I'm not trying very hard to sell. Don't need to sell.
