My wife and I bought two new helmets this weekend. 2 Scorpions... I got the 1000 and she got a lesser modile... 400... 700, I can't remember but I do a lot more riding than she does. My last helmet was a KBC "Wolf" (7 years old) I think... the one before that was a cheaper HJC.

The 1000... great looking helmet. The face shield is easily removable... just like the 700 I guess. Much easier than my old KBC.

It's pretty quiet compared to my last helmet... although like my father-n-law said, a helmet that has good ventilation tends to be a little louder. Close the vents and it quiets down.

I wear a large and this one is a bit smaller than other larges I've worn and tried on. I tried the extra large but apparently it's slightly to large. If I find it to tight than I can switch to thinner padding. The sales man told me the bucket size between the two are the same the large having more padding. I think I've just been wearing a helmet that was to big for me all these years.

Anti-fog shield... so far it is true. I can't get it to fog up no matter what I do. Hopefully that attribute doesn't wear out.

It has the flip down sun visor that uses a lever on the side. It's great if you have the shield down. With the shield up it forces the air up to your eye level. When it's hot I typicly ride with the shield up b/c I usually wear my okalys which work well to keep the air out of my eyes... thought I could get away from wearing sun glasses with the sun visor... we'll see how it works out.

Other models that have a sun visor aren't SNELL approved because the visor mechanism runs up through the top of the helmet which reduces the integrity of the helmet I guess... atleast that's what the sales men said. The Scorpions sun visor is different apparently so it gets the SNELL thumbs up... if you like that kind of thing... there you go. It was important to me anyways.

It has a pump for the cheek pads... like old rebox! You can increase the pressure of the cheek pads if you want to. Works really well so far.

The interior is removealbe using mostly snaps and some velcro... throw it in the wash.

Ventalation. So far it works pretty well. I haven't really ridden in the heat yet so I can't give a 2 thumbs up yet.

Weight... they say it's a little heavier but as far as I'm concerned it's the lightest helmet I've ever worn... refer to above. It doesn't really feel heavy but my commute isn't that long. I'm going to take a longer ride this weekend so I'll let you know if I change my opinion.

As with all new helmets I guess the visor is pretty stiff when raising or lowering which is a good thing in my opinion. There is a tab on each side so you can use either hand without reaching across. There is a lever on the shield that allows you three options... you can lock the shield down, unlock it, or lock the shield in the slightly open position maybe half an inch up to help in ventilation if you so choose. Neat option in my opinion... especially when it is raining to keep it from fogging up... the visor is supposed to be anti-fog... so use it how you want it.

Price... I bought it at a dealership in solid silver. The graphics add an extra $30.00. I paid $299.00 for it which is lower than the internet stores from what I've found. Good price I thought for a helmet with several fun options.

I think that's about all for now. If you have any questions, just let me know.
