I purchased a Scorpio alarm system. The install for the various components has gone well.

I've got some trepidation in the final stretch - adding the immobiliser - because it involves cutting wires.

I'm unhappy with the hacked up results of a lighting mod I'd done earlier this season. This time out, I'd like to request some help.

Walk me through; do some handholding; a little spoon feeding. Something like that.

I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks!

Still in need of assistance with this one, so I thought I'd give this post a bump.

Anyone installed a Scorpio alarm? Once done, I'm sure just a wise word or two should suffiice to get this noob up and running (or down and not running, as the case would be). ;)

    Thanks!

    Greg

Hey Greg, or is it Paul?

I am not any help, but I was curious. Do you normally store your bike outside, or in shady areas? I have an alarm that I never installed because most thieves do not ride your bike off, they throw it into a van and are gone in sixty seconds. A New York kryptonite chain (chained to an immovable object) would be more of a deterrent...or both combined. Just an idea.

Are the instructions insufficient? I would try to contact the manufacturer if so.

I respond to "Greg" unless I have reason to suspect there might be some work involved.

I've got a big honkin' generic chain and bulldog locks that I (intend to) use. I figure with the chain and the Scorpio noisemaker, the combination should send the lowlifes looking at the Kawasaki in the adjacent parking spot.

The Scorpio manufacturer has a rather c'est la vie attitude: "If you cut the wire, and the bike still starts, that means you cut the wrong wire". There's also the complication that there could be different possible things involved in the immobiliser (start switch, fuel pump) - I wouldn't know which would be preferable.

As you point out, the more likely heist would involve brute force: pick up the bike and dump it into the back of a van. I do regard the immobiliser as a marginal increase in security rather than a substitute for a chain.

    Thanks for asking.

Found this link, not sure if it applies to your model. Maybe you could contact them. They might be of some help. I am not sure of the exact model of your alarm so I am able to be of further assistance.

Come to Indiana and I'll install it for you. I'm only a 5-6 hr ride from you or so. I picked my VFR up from Beloit, WI and it took me about 4.5 hrs to get home while getting acquainted with her and taking it easy.
