Sag Adjustment Formula

    Here is the formula for sag that I was talking about.

    You will need 2 people to adjust sag properly.

    First measure the distance from the axle to the fender or a point straight up from axel with no weight on the bike. (Called "Free" measurement)

    Next get in all your normal ride gear, add luggage or passenger, depending on how you ride daily, or will ride after sag adjustment. Now measure again. (This is your "Ride" measurement)

    Subtract your "Ride" from your "Free". This is your "Sag". (30 to 35 mm is a normal sport ride sag) you may want softer for touring comfort but start there.

    This is how you adjust your rear preload for ride sag. Front settings by feel.

    95 to 100 mm sag is, to my knowledge, for motocross bikes, not street bikes. 30 to 35 mm sounds more correct. But I am just an old motocrosser. :p

    BTW, My buddy MOTOJO just emailed me a link from ebay. Seems he's lookin at a VFR 750F. I told him to "buy it you fool". There may be hope for him yet.
