I'm going to take a ride from San Francisco to Seattle, possibly Canada. I only have 12 days for this trip, plan on average of 200 miles a day. I'll be leaving from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco then up. I've ridden all the way to Crator Lake then to part of the coast in Oregon, more or less up to the WA border.

Looking for advice on any fun/scenic 'must do' interior rides for the way up or back.

    Thanks.

Dude, theres a lot of great choices here. Really can't go wrong with any, other than I-5 ha.. so pick what you think you'd like. 101 up the coast is frustrating due to traffic (RVs) then the east side of the cascades is high desert country not so bad but straight till you hit it up past Bend. must say thou once up here. you need to hit up Carson on the WA side of the Columbia river, taking you up the back side of Mt.St Helens is a must do.

I just ran the length of I-40 from Cali to North Carolina... Somewhere around Texas I forgot how to make the bike turn...

Route 1 all the way up is mostly pretty incredible, 200 miles a day will take pretty long though.

The national park up there by Seattle is pretty awesome, including an area that qualifies as a rainforest. One of the few, if not the only one in the cont. U.S. Pretty cool.

200 miles a day is an average, assuming I may spend a day or two in any given location. The reality is like riding 400 miles on any given day. Total, round trip I'm going to assume under 2,000 miles or so. 10 of 12 days of riding, double my miles to allow to stay in one place for more than a day.

Guess I was looking for favorite routes in THIS area, not one that leads to Texas, but thanks anyway for the input.

Off PCH1, before Gualala, is stewarts point road. I've only done it in a rental car while on vacation but it was still awesome even in a F#$%ing cage.

In the deep redwoods sections, there were TONS of no trespassing signs everywhere. I wonder why?

1 or PCH is a beutiful ride on it's good points, down side is fog, wet, motor homes & just your general looky loos. Never done it, it's worth it.

My only recamendation is for when coming back(allthough more of a inland ride), I love 395 when I head back with great scenery & more of a less traveled enjoyable ride (on a bike, cage just takes too long).
doing this, you will go through Reno (kinda hot in the summer) & then cross over just south of Reno & go by Lake Tahoe (nice ride too) heading towards home!

Good luck & have a safe trip !
