    Hi guys.
    I ride a 1985 VF500 F.
As the title suggests the rocker cover bolt ont the left front cylinder has sheared.
Now I'm no expert in the art of motorcycle tinkering so I was wondering if there was anything I need to be careful of....or any suggestions of the best way.
    Appreciate any input guys

I've used a dremel with a cut off wheel to cut a slot and unscreew the piece with a flat screewdiver.

The bolt is really long and if you get the valve cover off it should have plenty left to grip.

They make "easy outs" for bolt heads HERE is what they look like. tap on lightly with a hammer and tap lightly as you break the bolt loose. They work pretty good.

Cheers guys. All the front end is coming off on wednesday for the fork seals to be replaced. This is when that dastardly bolt is coming out. A new to me original exhaust sytem should be on its way from your side of the pond in the next few days. Arolling restoration you could say.
Any recommendations for a front tyre? I have a conti go on the rear which has a grip level that me and my pillion enjoy something similar for the front.
And by any chance will there be a pet-cock handle(???) to fit into the tank floating around that no one needs??
Again thanks for the quick response guys

Careful with the dremel or ez out approach to not get filings in there. When I had this happen on my last bike, I took a coal chisel and tapped a dent in the remaining bolt big enough that I could turn it out with a screw driver. These bolts stretch when torqued to spec so it's typical for them to snap if they get reused

Use a magnet to recover any metal shavings.

Sorry, but I can't agree. The bolt was over-tightened, and that's why it snapped.

"Torqued to spec ????" So you were actually using a torque wrench ?? I don't believe so.
