OK, so I have a 6th gen viffer with about 10K on the clock.

A few weeks ago it was about 106 degrees here in San Antonio. I left work a little after 5PM, the hottest part of the day. After a little while I noticed some unusual heat coming from between the gas tank and the seat. At first it was just weird, but then it got downright painful! The bike was running fine, temp was between 205 and 219, depending on my speed.

I wear scrubs for work, which are pretty thin, but that air was HOT! I literally had to push back away from the tank and ride with my legs open because I could feel the burn on the jewels!

    So, a couple of questions..

    Have you experienced this?

    Is there a solution?

Will I still be able to reproduce? (We're actually all done making babies, but it's still nice to know I can, ya know?)

    Rich

Hell even my gas tank got Hot yesterday while riding, ( 102 degrees F with out heat index ) I would say it is probably normal, as the aire flow exits in that area because of the fairings, & you have hotter aire comming from the radiators.

My 5th gen does simular. The air coming out at the back of the lower tank, just forward of the seat get pretty frigging hot! Been wondering what would happen if I made some alum plates and blocked it off.

If you blocked that off the bike would overheat. They are there so the air will have a place to flow through. It definitely gets toasty on really hot days!!

The exhaust headers from the rear cylinder aren't helping much! The area doesn't get any air flow from the front of the bike at all but when moving the negative pressure behind the bike will help scavenge the heat. If you removed the heat shield which is installed behind the right foot peg, it may help the jewels a bit but it won't take long before your ankle bakes off.

It's just better to leave her in the garage when the temps approach or breach the 100 deg mark IMHO.
