Has anyone ventured renting/importing a bike in Europe for a few weeks/months? I'm thinking of doing an extended tour over 2 months and I'm looking for specific info regarding liscence validity, registration, etc. I hold a Canadian liscence, thinking of transporting the bike there to avoid registration problems. Anyone with experience please help! Thanks Regards, Bruckner
Check Edelweisse Tours. http://www.edelweissbiketravel.com/tours/E They rent BMW's mostly. They used to rent VFR's (or at least they did when I lived there) but I don't see them listed on their web site. I loved riding in Europe ( it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it). Trust me when I tell you, it's simply not worth the hassle to ship your bike for a temporary trip. I've tried to figure out a way to make it work but in the end it would have been $2000 just for the shipping & handling for a 2 week ride. Check out: Grosseglockner Passe (Austria) The Dolomites (Italy) The Mosel River Valley (Germany) Garmich-Partikirken/Berchtesgarden (Germany) The area around Lake Lucerne & the Zurichsee (Switzerland) Just to name a few... You will not want to leave. Trust me... KC-10 FE out... lane:
If I were riding in Europe I'd like to find this road, Austria I think ?
Try the "Rent or Buy" link here - Motorbike Touring - Hints and Tips This became a frequent question from visitors looking to do some Alpine touring during their European holiday, so we ended up creating a separate webpage to explain the pro's and cons. If you are planning a European tour - you can easily rent or buy bikes in the UK or in Europe so we also included on the website a few links where you can get prices for both options. Send me a PM if you need anything else explained. Skimad4x4 Proud Member - 6th Gen Militia # 218 - European 1st Division
