Thought I'd post a review of the Dowco 50003-02 Guardian WeatherAll Plus black motorcycle cover that I purchased in size large for the '02 VFR800 about 2 years ago from scamazon. It's now selling for $64 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Dowco-50003-02-Guardian-WeatherAll-Motorcycle/dp/B0022ZN6WU This cover is a heavy-duty all-weather waterproof cover. It has: -vent to allow moisture to evaporate -heat-resistant lining at the bottom -elastic over the entire length -strap to secure the cover below the motorcycle Fit: The cover is fairly easy to install once you have a technique down. The size large fits the VFR well, covering all but the last couple inches of the tires. With the OEM saddlebags, the size large fits ok, but leaves the lower 6-12" exposed. If you have saddlebags, I'd recommend the next size up, XL. The cover forms a small well between the tank and left mirror that collects water, but this hasn't been a problem. Folding the mirrors would probably eliminate this well. Features: The heat-resistant lining at the bottom is a thoughtful touch to allow the cover to be put on with hot exhaust pipes. The VFR's high-mount mufflers are mounted above the cut-off of the lining, but I've put the cover on immediately after riding without any melting of the cover at all. I've put the cover over a wet motorcycle and the motorcycle has still dried off, thanks to the vent (which is covered to prevent water from entering). The elasticized bottom holds fairly securely, though it can creep up a bit over the tires over time (having a properly sized cover would probably prevent this). The strap holds the cover on securely and keeps it from riding up from around the center of the motorcycle. Performance: The VFR has sat under this cover outside every day for two years in New England weather, including blizzards, heavy rain, and direct sun. The cover is completely waterproof and has never leaked, even after having snow on it for a week or after heavy rains. Durability: Two years, the cover is a bit dirtier (it can be spot washed) but it shows no fading, no significant wear, and no popped seams. Overall: Easily 5/5 stars. Truly a well-designed and well-manufactured all-weather waterproof motorcycle cover. For $64 it's a bargain.
Hi Nearfreezing - That's a pretty good review. I'm using Dowco myself on my '97. I'm using Nelson-Rigg small bags and they're covered fine. The store price for that cover is about $90, so your link is a good deal. I'm using an XL on my Yamaha FJR1300. I have a driveway, but no garage and in DC/Nova area we have a sucky climate. Dowco is a good investment to cover my 'investments'. The only thing possibly better would be one of those enclosures. But they might get smashed down in a rowdy snow dump, and that wouldn't be better. After a rain, any moisture seems to be on the bottom from sitting on a wet driveway. But the vent helps water out. I have never found a puddle of water on the saddle.
