Anybody know if an 85 VFR500 has a rev limiter? I am guessing not, since I accidentally over-reved it while missing 2nd gear.. But it only reved a little past 12K... so I was not sure if the limiter might be set higher than that.... Don't want to find out the hard way.. I read thru my Clymer manual and it does not mention anything either... Thanks for the help.. Ken
I have the clymer's also and as my 84 vf 50 is not quite road worthy, I couldn't tell you. It sure would be nice to give the little bike a good ride, but I'm still workin on her. A lot of little things add up to a PIA.
Yes there is a revlimiter, it comes in approx 800 revs after the redline. Don't worry about hitting it I do it all the time on my 750 chasing 600's on the track
I am a bit worried to really push it.. I have accidentally gone past the red area on the gauge.. 12-13K... I did not feel any limiter kick in... I have noticed that the engine continues to pull strongly past 12K.... perhaps the gauge is not accuratly showing the RPM? Anyway... for now I will take the concervative route.. I can't afford to replace a blown engine.. just to find out. Have fun...Be safe. Ken
