need to remove my tail section bodywork on my 1996. does it have to come off as one piece or can it be spilt so I don't end up scratching it trying to slide it off, if so are the any hidden bolt to removing so I don't wind up breaking anything trying to force anything, any help would be much appreciated

Easier to take off as one piece. Take out the bulbs.

Take out the two large side bolts, then the two Frankenbolts and remove the seat and remove the pillion handles. then spring the front both sides from the tank mounts and slide the whole assembly backwards. disconnect the wiring from the small multiplug on the left side that goes to the back light and indicators as it is revealed. Its a 5minute job

Richierex, do you know what the thread size is on the two large bolts? It's either an M6 or an M8.

M6 but not a normal nut. The pillion grip bolts are bigger but "normal " bolts Then there is the special Frankenbolts
