Quick question. Does the screw / bolt holding the bar ends come out completely to remove the bar end weights? Looking at the parts fiche it appears that it does but I couldn't tell for certain.

I ask because on my other bike (DL650 V-Strom) if you remove the bolt completely you are going to be fishing parts out of the handlebars. Those have a rubber expansion bushing and when the bolt is tightened it expands the bushing. They only need to be loosened about a turn and if they are completely removed the bushing, nut, and a couple of washers goes right down the tube ;)

    Thanks for the help.

The screw comes all the way out. Honda's have a bushing with a half-moon on the bar & the end. Just curious, why do you need to take the ends off a brand new bike?

Thanks, that's good to know and I appreciate the info.

I'm taking the bar ends off to replace the grips. I prefer gel grips to hard rubber grips. I could probably get them over the bar ends but there's no real reason to.

    Thanks for the help.

I did the same thing. It's MUCH easier witht he ends off. One trick, though. If you are gettign grips that area closed at the bar end, end, use an exacto knife to cut a larger hole. Most come with a small hole so the screw can fit through. But, as mentioned, there is a half-moon connection that needs to take place and you will need to cut enough rubber away to allow that connection to work.

Thanks, I'll do that. I've had ProGrips on V-Strom since right after I bought it and really like them so I got a set for the VFR today. They are closed on the ends but I remember trimming that out for the V-Strom as well.

    Thanks guys.

Edit ... Later ... The grips are on. No problems and a piece of cake. Thanks for the help and comments everyone.
