Alright. Pardon my ignorance, but why is it such a big deal to NOT remove the adapter plate when removing Gen1 carbs?

Is it an air leak issue?

The reason I ask is that I have removed mine several times and am now wondering if there are seals that go around the throats?

The PO had rigged up a pretty janky setup with "custom" fuel junction lines betwix the carbs and I'm having issues with RPM hang and fueling in general.

So I'm trying to isolate one of several problems that I am experiencing.

This is an 84 VF700F picked up for $643.00 so I'm really not complaining or expecting it to run at all, just curious.

    Thanks

    -Sean

The reason is those cross over tubes and how fragile they are. It is a wildly poor idea to remove the manifold and then try to remove the carbs. Even on the bench the tubes are so easily damaged that it is best to not remove the manifold unless you must or have a spare set.

Ah, I see. Well the damage has been done. I can see why there are no more crossover tubes, just hacksawed ends with heater hose in between.

This is going to be an all winter project, I'm sure...

    Thanks for the reply.
