Removal of front spark plugs (VF500)

Question: Do I need to remove the radiator to pull the 2 front spark plugs on my 1985 Interceptor? The space looks REALLY tight to fit any wrenches in there (and I dont have the factory tool kit).

no familar w/ 500 but you might beable to leave hoses on and just unbolt it from frame and move it enough to get at them. Just wanted to give link to manuals

I know on the 2gens you simply remove the 2 bottom bolts on each lower radiator mount and gently pull the radiator forward enough to get in there. The factory tool kit would be a big help as it has the spark plug socket and an offset wrench which makes it really easy.

 

i dont have to but it takes me ten mins to change the front cylinders :crazy:

 

sitting on the bike the left side you just use a rachet and 17mm and your done. I take the 3 rad. bolts off and the right side hose, makes it easier. 10 or 15 min. and plug are done.

 

I had a VF500 87 and don't remember having to move the radiator, well at least not in it's entirety.You do need one of those delicately long thin plug spanners though.
