This topic may have already been ran but i can't seem to find any info on it. Has anyone tried removing the insides of the catalytic converter on the stock pipes before adding a slip-on. We do not have any inspections in SC so emissions would not be a problem. I want a full system but just can't justify the cost, I am going with a two bros. slip on instead. any ideas or comments would be great.

Easier said than done. Because the muffler pipe comes out the back at an angle, you can't just get in there and drill/smash the guts out of it. I got into mine with a 45-degree offset crow bar , with some aid from a four-pound hammer, and managed to make a bit of a hole in the back of the catalytic honeycomb section. No immediate change in exhaust note, and the engine still runs 10-degrees C hotter than my old 98 model. But the note seems to be getting better as I ride it more _ I think the honeycomb is slowly exiting via the nasty non-standard gash in the retaining steelwork.

your exhaust packing also wears down making it louder.
