Rejetting a 87 vfr700 with cobra F1R slip on strifgt thru no baffle mufflers

    ditched the cali emmish carbs installed a set of 49 state carbs runs lots better but need jetting info to put it into the poroper range.running a straight thru cobra f1r mufflers..sounds real good .i was gonna start by installing another washer uder the stock needles to richen the mid range has 118 mains...probly wont be into full throttle alot around here with our crappy roads..see a dynojet stage one carb kit for around a hundred bucks...and they supply new diaphram springs also..running a stock air filter..any suggestions..it was on the lean side with the calif carbs mid range and had terrible top end power..but all the emmish stuff is gone now and carbs are better.bike even sounds better and throttle response is better..thanks gregg in cold warm cold warm ohio

    Tuning with a couple washers and experimenting with main jets, maybe going from a #38 idle jet to a #40 will get you set up, but it's pretty well known that jetkits on a gen2 are no improvement and are usually difficult to tune properly.

    Go online and see if you can find the the tuning instructions that come with FactoryPro or K&N/Dynojet kits, which are useful for solving problems.
