2000 VFR 800, assuming I'm experiencing the R/R issue that many have. After spirited ride usually on hot days, not enough power to crank starter. Bike will bump start. Battery holds trickle charge. Intermittent only happens on hot days. Does this sound like a RR issue?

Looking at ACZ Rectifier for $35. Most are over $150. Any reason not to try this rectifier?

Get yourself a multimeter and run a charging system test, "The Drill" post #9. Post your results and numbers. That will point you on what to fix.
But yeah, typically on a 5th gen, there is a high fallout on the OEM R/Rs - Also, take a hard look at the stator connector...

Typically you are wasting your money on the cheap R/Rs, they die out in no time. How much is a tow truck?
The good ones are higher priced for a reason, they last.....

I would also recommend having your battery load tested. A dying battery can cause your issues.
