rectifier bad

    86 - -vfr 700

    Smoke coming from rectifier. Have voltage around 50 volts from stator with no regulator plugged in. Nothing coming for the rr at all. Obviously its the rr. Or am I missin g something. Don't want to blow 100 on nothing

    What's good is the stator. 50-60 VAC is good output @ over 5000 rpm.

    Replace r/r and make sure grounds are clean. One problem is that Honda led too many different components to ground with too few wires, and on bikes after gen 3, wires got smaller to save a few yen and for weight reduction. Poor decision.
