Hey guys. I got a 2002 VFR800 and I have seen a few bikes with tail light flashers. Those are the ones when you pull or step on a brake it will flash a few times then goes solid. Anyone have any? Please list what you bought or a link of it. I would appreciate how you wired it with some pictures. I'ts cheap insurance it lessens the risk of a rear end, and it looks pretty cool! Thanks.

Check your state's regulations, they specify how many flashes, rate and duration.

I just had my '02 in for the wiring recall and they wouldn't hook up the flasher when they replaced all the wiring as they said it is illegal in Canada. People have told me that they noticed me in traffic specifically because of that, once I had a guy swerve around me when I stopped to turn that came up to me after to apologise and said that if my tail light had not been flashing he probably wouldn't have even noticed me at all.
So I'm hooking it back up and if the police charge me then they charge me. Haven't had an issue in 4 years yet.

I have one as well, and it DOES help.

I don't recall the brand, but they all hook up the same.

I've got the Kisan Tailblazer on 2 of my 3 motorcycles. The VFR is the only one without a Tailblazer because I just bought the bike. I did put a Kisan Pathblazer headlight modulator on the VFR and I guess I'll get around to the Tailblazer eventually.

Signal Dynamics BackOFF Wig Wag. Came with the 6th gen that I bought. I like it so much that I took it off and moved it to my 5th gen when I sold the 6th Gen. This is the perfect solution in my opinion.

I also use the Signal Dynamics BackOFF but i chose to flash only an additional LED light bar that I have attached under the license plate. Anything that can grab the attention of a distracted driver behind me has to help!

I use red/amber swithbacks in rear turns. Red center wire tapped to brake lights. Whole back end goes red with the brakes overidden to amber on the side a turn signal is turned on. Pretty cool & easy.

On my FJR I had a light bar and the amber turns ran as running lights, flashed with the brakes too.... no LEO ever cared and I was all over the US and Canada with that bike. Rock on. Maybe California might be different about enforcement, but I wasn't there on that bike.

I don't think the back off flasher is illegal in BC at least. I've never came across it in our regs for the 25 years prior to my retirement in 2003. Wig Wag headlights or tail lights would be illegal though. You can have high/low modulating head lights on a motorcycle in BC. No other vehicles are allowed this feature. The BC Regulations say they are illegal but there is and exemption for motorcycles. One has to dig pretty deep in the Regs and a couple other Federal standards to find the exact authority. Most LEOs would stop at the onset and walk away from it. As someone has already stated, police are not likely to bother you about that. Who is to say a rider is not causing that flashing manually anyway. It is a possibility correct?

I ordered a backoff wig wag. Going to put it in the stashbox licence plate box and mount it with 2 magnifier type red led licence plate bolts from Superbright Leds. Should a nice contained unit, noticeable but not obnoxious. This way I can positap rather cut brake wires as well.

I have a modulating rear brake light. When I apply the brakes if goes Flash, flash, flash, on......flash flash flash on.... until you release the brakes. I am not sure of the legalities of this here because I had never come across it and never looked it up. It is an effective safety feature so I would never have bothered anyone with it before I was a biker anyway
