I'm thinking my rear hub could use a rebuild, here's why. 1, its got 49'??? Miles and has never been done, im the third owner. 2, When its on the center stand (i rebuilt clutch m/c yesterday and bled every brake/clutch bleed valve i could) and i work the first couple gears the wheel slows and stops almost immediately after pulling the clutch in, just a couple seconds if im in anything but 1st gear and 1st gear clutch pull stops the wheel faster. 3, that rear damper rubber im thinking is worn badly because of the lurch when I roll on throttle from coast, not everytime but often. Chain has a recent adj. and I lube twice per oil swap and i've never seen rust on it. So im looking for second opinions on that and though I have the bulk of necessary tools, I do question the bearing driver attatchment on page 14-11, the pilot attachment specifically. I understand what a pilot is for, im wondering if someone has maybe made it through without it ? Last but not least, bearings and seals are (far as i know) straight forward, meaning, i dont believe there is a difference between Hondas bearing and a bearing from the bearing and seal house in town, thats all they do. Im thinking if I bring the collection of bearings and seals in, they will match whatever I got and a cheaper deal than the Honda dealership...(actually a parts list ahead of time would be best but the book doesn't give part numbers and i doubt my Honda dealer will give me specific bearing and seal sizes only the Honda part number which is not the number for the bearing/seal size)...thoughts ?
