My first 750 was bought as a rough runner, fairings missing, questionable electrics, and a few more wood screws holding plastics together than Mr Honda initially intended, but after a bit of care and support from this site it became a fine commuter.

I had intended on doing a full restoration job on it but when another popped up on Ebay with a selection of bits that I was intending on getting anyway, and for a few £100 more than they would cost it seemed like a good bet. The bike in question was advertised with Renteck rack, stainless silencer and braided hoses. But upon inspection I noticed the full stainless system, non-standard shock and R/R replacement, so all in it was a good buy. I got some miles in before winter stopped play, bike ran nicely with no complaints.

This winter I'm working my way through standard service items and setting up suspension. So far electrical checks are all good, brakes serviced (pistons were like new), mystery shock identified as an EMC unit (never heard of them before but seems to do a good job and is correctly sprung), rear fairing repaired at the usual broken grab handle lugs, different fork spring and fresh oil (full rebuild is on the cards but will wait for testing weather before making too many changes). On the to do list, valves and carb sync, eccentric flip and seat re-foam

    Thanks, Lewis
