    Hi
I have a 92 vfr750 that was working fine last week. This week I waited for it to warm up and then tried to wind it out a bit. The engine cut out around 6500, all four cylinders, all at once. As I rode around for the rest of the morning the cut point moved around a bit from 6500 up to about 9000 but the spark would cut out instantly like a rev limiter and would catch as soon as the motor slowed. Any suggestions before I dive in to the fairings?

Weird... Does it pull wel under that revs? Maybe the pickup is bad? Or the ecu? Its a electrical problem for sure... But couldnt tell if spark plugs or spark plug caps or wires or coils or... Check for corrosion or dust in connections around those things... Use dielectric grease where you find corrosion after cleaning it with a wire brush

the bike charges all the way to the spark cut. it revs great with the clutch in, just not under load. the pickup is under the left case cover correct?

as far as i know the ignition system only consists of the pulse generator, power to the the cdi box, four coils, and four plugs right? Plugs look ok, coils work great as long as i'm not under load. I will check the pickups for 500+ ohms of resistance. Is there any way to check the cdi without a working replacement?

I don't know any way other than diassembing it if it's not all epoxy filled and check for broken capacitors... On my previous bandit 400 it was a common issue that the electrolytic capacitors inside the cdi where gone, and replacing them the bike worked like a charm again. But again, if the cdi is all epoxy filled and like a brick, its nearly impossible to fix.

On my ST1100, I had a similar problem which turned out to be a weak spark, low voltage reaching the ECU and coils due to corrosion in the big red connector which feeds power to/from the right bar controls.
