<rant>Some guy brought his iPhone to my store.
He said, "if I pay to have this unlocked, can I download stuff for free?"

I said I could unlock it, but he would have to go and find the program to get stuff for free....because its illegal and I don't do anything illegal.

He said, "Does it have to be unlocked and jailbroken to download the program that gets stuff for free?"

I said yes, and I will tell you the name and the website of where to get that stuff, but I am not able to install it because it is illegal.

Well.. he paid for me to unlock and jailbreak the phone.
He could not figure out how to download the program. He went to a differant store and demanded they refund him for my services because he couldn't figure it out.

He then said - "I will go get my money back from that guy and if he doesnt refund me I will kick his bike over."

So here I sit, baseball bat under the desk just waiting to see if he shows up.

I think it would be a very tragic turn of events for anyone that tried to fuck with either of my bikes. I really hope I don't have to send this guy to the fucking morgue.</rant>

What a dick... I'd be prepared to beat the shit out of him over a threat like that as well. I hate idiots that can't follow directions and figure things out when they are told just how to do what they are wanting. Hell, a damn three year old can google the answer, watch a few youtube vidoes, and do the jailbreak/unlock on their own.

What he wanted me to do was illegal and I refused.

Robbing banks is illegal. I refuse to do it.
I have these tools that are 100% legal to own, but they are quite useful to have when robbing banks. I will sell them to you. You do not know how to rob banks, you say? I will give you these notes on how, when, and where to best rob a bank. From there you are on your own.

This is what I call skirting the law. I am not calling you out in any way, or even equating unlocking a phone with robbing a bank. I am just saying you told someone how to do something that is illegal and they are angry that it did not work for them.
If this was done from a place of business, might your boss get upset and take action against you for "helping" someone do something illegal?

Jobs are hard to come by these days. I would hate to see you get yourself into trouble.

 

Simple fact is, Cundalini did not break any law. While there may be a company policy issue, he's done nothing to justify the asshat running around making threats. BTW, your last two sentences are interesting...

What a police officer does in the privacy of his own home is none of my business, if skirts are his thing, he should be able to indulge his whims provided its not illegal.

This isent exactly a direct fact about your comment, but just for added information, there are other reasons for jalbraking an iphone. There are featurs that can be added, for example the abilitity to run multiple applications at one time. this is one of the main reasons that i would not use an Iphone.

as far as him "helping" the way i read it is that he jalbroke the phone for him but didnt exactly tell him how to get free apps. all he told him was that he had to get the program, i may have missed something, but i did not see where he gave him any information at all about obtaining the program. he said to get the program, but did not show him where or how. no more information than what the man already had.

my wife thinks otherwise, i could be wrong in this.
