Okay wasn't sure were to put this post, Very important that the word gets out. especially here in Washington. Micheal if you feel this is in the wrong place then for heavens shake move it just want to get the word out . Seems maybe things might start turning for the better for us that ride.. Now I'm not the promotor of all this, but do agree something needs to be done. So for those riders in Washington, now your chance to have a say in what is going to happen. To understand please read this, http://www.pnwriders.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14223 Now I know this applys to residents of Washington state but was thinking just maybe there could be a trickle down effect to other states. thanks for your time. Please pass the word out on this if you have friends or family members that ride in Washington.
RV, I read that post and I feel for the loss this man nad his family feels. He and his family have a right to be very angry. I also applaud the fact he wants to change how these types of accidents are handled. I noticed a poster mentione ABATE, but no one mentioned the AMA. The AMA has a Justice For All campaing to toughen laws for those who kill another while operating a motor vehcile, This campaing is not aimed to those who drive cars, but at all motorists, as is only fair. See if someone on PNW is an AMA member and have them contact the AMA or the local Justice For All rep. Recall the accident involving a mortorcyclist and Congressman Janklow, in which the motorcycleist was killed and Janklow got a slap on the wrist. The motorcycling community was outraged by this and the AMA began working on the Justice for All campaign. While this was not the first, nor the last, incident in which the charge nor the punishement did not fit the situation, it sprked a national awareness never before achieved. Here are a few linka to articles on the AMA's website: http://www.ama-cycle.org/news/2004/justice_for_all.asp Facing Up to the Consequences of Crashes http://www.ama-cycle.org/news/2004/Janklowreversal.asp Justice? Pass them on to the PNW list.
Only too happy to provide this info. While I don't agree with everything the AMA does, this one has merit. And while changes won't happen overnight, they will happen and are happening even now.
