After a long dry spell, marked by months of worry free riding, as well as recent wildfires, the much needed rains came. That was now over a week ago and it has been wet and cloudy ever since. It was wet but not raining this morning so my typical bike commute was in order. Now the forecast is for rain rain rain ,particularly about the time I leave work
Dang, wish that rain suit would have still been where I left it . Didn't have time to look for it ...now it looks to be a soggy ride home.

It blows my mind how traction in the wet varies from nearly full dry like traction (for as far as a dare to test it), to slipping around everywhere while just rolling thru , especially at intersections.

Tell me about it. I don't mind rain so much as rain and cold. Around here you have rain through the winter and it blows. But, in Texas we always end every discussion about the weather with "...but we need the rain."

Traction in rain is lesser than dry, but especially bad when there has been a long dry spell before the rain. I tend to stay off the bike for a few hours when our first rain of the fall comes around here. Cages are slip sliding all over the guddam place because of wet road film not yet being washed away.

LOL 34 and snow this morning, melting when it hits the ground. What a mess, now it's half rain & snow mix, still 34.

From the sounds of GA's drought, you should be praying for it to keep raining for many many months to come! You guys are in bad shape!

Traction on newly wet roads here in Phx is the worst of the worst. With the oil and grease, plus a light touch of fine dust that turns to clay at first rain is suicide for riders

Maybe that's why so many people were spinning out and hitting the wall that time about 2 years ago, after Thanksgiving,
driving back from Phx to LA in the first hard rain in a while.

I'm with VFR. It's about 20 degrees out, with a lot of snow coming...

Yeah the weather outside is gonna be frightful down here as well, it's only gonna hit 80 degrees on 6 out of 10 days according to the attached 10 day forecast. I'm gonna have to find my owner's manual and figure out how the heated grips work :congratulatory:

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

    When we finally kiss goodnight
How I hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

    The fire is slowly dying
And my dear we're still goodbye-ing
As long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Oh, it doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've brought some corn for popping
and the lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
    OH... let it snow

All the way home I'll be warm
All the way home I'll be warm

    The fire is slowly dying
And my dear I'm still goodbye-ing
As long you love me so

Let it snow, Let it Snow, Let it snow
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

Ahhh, wonderful tune, and only a dream here.

If it's gonna be this cold, may as well make it worth while and have snow, but we rarely get dumped on with powder.

More like: let it ice, let it ice, let it ice.

That sucks - instead of Bing Crosby you'll have to settle for Vanilla Ice :beguiled:

LOL - I never learned the rap but I did drive a Mustang ragtop :glee: Actually I owned 3 of them but none had the 5.0, they all had the 4.6 (a '98 Cobra, an '04 Cobra (scary fast car), and a '06 GT)

Where are the videos when you really need them! Anyone singing/rapping to that song would be funny and definitely worth watching. Instant gold! lol

I'll take the rain. This was what I woke up to. I had shovelled that driveway last night at 10PM. There was another 5 inches there this morning and we are expecting another possible 5 inches tonight

Not at all. We sometimes will get a dusting of snow that only sticks to the grass areas and just barely. The mowed lawns are higher than the snow. We got a storm with a little more snow than this in the mid 90's. Otherwise, we only have to do a little shovelling every couple years here. Could probably get away without shovelling most the times we do as well.

The city expects us to keep the city sidewalks in front of our houses cleared too. Fuck that I say. Clear the walk so everyone in and around the area can walk their damned dogs by to piss and shit on my lawn? Fukkers can walk out on the road. If we still had door to door mail delivery, I wouldn't object but we don't.

How can all persons keep walkways cleared anyway?
For people that aren't able-bodied, that would be a hardship. Guess that's where good neighbors should come into play.

This looks like an epic snowfall though. Would be hard for regular folks to keep up it looks like.

We help out the older folk. three years ago we had a snow fall just short of this one. Viennese and I cleared ours and three other driveways for some seniors. This time, the kids (16 and 18) across the street took care of one of them, another had her son in law come by and the last one now lives in a home...I think. She could be gone by now though.
