R/R problem, why no recall?

So I am about to replace my 2nd R/R since I bought the bike new in 99. Being that this is/was a known issue with the 98-01 VFR, why was it never recalled? I know the recalled the 02-05 for an electrical issue, was that the same one?

A good friend of mine is going to fab a R/R up, including a fan to keep it somewhat cooler. He tinkers with this kind of stuff, so I will let him try.

Have your buddy replace the yellow wiring with bigger gauge wire...it'll help

 

I agree!!! The RR for these bikes should be a recall item, I mean come on... It was such an issue they redesignd the part to have better cooling? I guess that was less expensive than fixing the real problem(wiring harness)
