    alrighty.

    So on the tail of all the RR troubles people have been having lately I was struck with it...My 86 VFR700 went down with it. I first thought it was the Stator so with a quick call to the parts Fairy a "new" stator was sitting in the mail box. replaced that and still had no voltage out put to the battery much to my dismay...

    The following months (yes I said months) I spent trying to find an R/R to replace the original one with.... this yeilded many put folks wanted from one hundred up to 150 bucks for a used one and new one respectively.
    a few phone calls and some searching TOECUTTER found one off of a first gen CBR the plugs lined up and the only difference is the CBR has a ground wire that I had to find a place to bolt it to. as far as fit goes the bolt holes lined up perfect to the original holes and the only thing I had to "modify" and that was the inner fender air hole I guess it is. I had to carve it back a little bit.

    As far as readings go I can't give exact one but when I installed it I was onr the phone with TOECUTTER and gave hin the readings I was pulling and they were all within spec. it did get warm but I could place my hand on it for a short period of time.

    It's been a week and I have rode the VFR for about 600 miles maybe, and the battery is not heating up and there are no issues with the RR.
    This RR apparently grows on trees as it is the same for the magna and the sabre. so it is much less on the wallet.

    Cheers

    Did this have any affect on your power issues while on the freeway?

    Power issues? nope the bike ran great I rode it in the dark last night and all the lights were bright. no "fade" when I slowed down to an idle..... and strangely enough I haven't had the stuttering problem since the one time....

    hhhhhha hha... :biggrin::biggrin:

    One more important thing I forgot... you will need longer bolts same diameter, just a bit longer then cbr RR bolt holes have no cut out its the same thickness as the fins
