I've got a Jardine titanium muffler on my 98. It sounds great, but its louder than my firebird with a 350 V8 which has a 3" exhaust with headers and a hi flow muffler...

Any way to quiet the bike down and any recommendations if its a new/different muffler?

you might be able to fit a "Decibel Dawg" in your pipe if the Jardine is Round at the exhaust outlet?? I had one on my Drz Sm which had a pretty standard Yoshimura rs3 can. It nicely fits flush up against your can outlet and has two allen keys which are pointed and tighten up inside the outlet, 2 minutes on or off. Made a rediculous saturday night terror bike into a monday morning cruiser that I didn't have to walk down the street so I didn't wake the baby. Found mine and they have 3 sizes at Royal Destributing. Hope this helps

    OEM muffler

Hi. I just rode my bike to Southern CA from Loveland, CO last week after purchasing it in CO. I love this bike! But when I saw the dealer's picture on Cycle Trader I didn't notice that it had Micron slip ons due to the luggage obscuring the muffler.

I am thinking of returning the bike to stock condition. Does anyone have a pair of OEM mufflers for the 6th gen VFR that they would like to be rid of? They would have a good home.

Are you seeking to trade out even or looking for freebies?

I made that same offer for a good home for any spare cash anyone had lying about. Didn't get a darn dime.

    OEM Muffler

Spare cash? Is there such a thing???? I've been looking for some for quite some time. I am looking to get OEM mufflers for the 2004 VFR. I am not looking to pay or pay much for them. Am surely willing to pay for shipping. I know that I still have the pipes for my old Hayabusa lying around (2000) and am hoping that someone has the OEM muffler and needs to free up some garage space.

Repack the muffler. The packing is probably toast in there and it is due for it.

So what's your best on a straight tradeout? Each party pays shipping. Are the Microns in good shape? Were they put on when the 2004 was new? Have they been gutted?

I just bought the bike. Am thinking of getting the stock mufflers to see if it helps with fuel economy and see how I like the bike set up best. Not getting rid of the microns until I test the stock setup and like it. Am not going to make a deal that I may want to back out of later.

Come on up to LA. You can have mine for a six pack of Negra Modelo, and a couple tacos. Gas from Lake Elsinore to Hawthorne would probably be cheaper than shipping... PM me if you want my address and/or phone number.
btw: one of the heat shields has a couple light scratches and a small egg shaped dent. (neither show up in a pic)

    'Busa muffler

I was just saying that I have the OEM pipes for my Busa around the garage. If you know anyone that needs them, I'd be glad to give them away. This was for my now-totalled 2000 'Busa. Thanks for the offer, though. 14 busa's? I guess you can never have too much of a good thing? If I had the $$ I'd be looking for a 1999 'busa, but alas no $$.

he's got one that is a limited edition one, that is still in the crate, a pink one (factory red, looks pink), a couple of drag ones, stretched frame and all, one with a turbo charger...and why a turbo is needed is beyond comprehension....

    turbo-charged 'busas

People put turbos on 'em cuz they're available. It's like climbing Mt. Everest, they climb it cuz it's there.

I have a 99 and I have the delkevic standard slipon that was 155$ U.S. shipped. With the db-killer out its nice and aggressive, with it in its a good commuter with just enough rumble to let you know your riding a V4.

    OEM Mufflers

I got the mufflers installed today. Amazing how quiet the bike is now. I will miss the throaty Micron sound, but since I am using this bike to commute 110 miles/day and want the best gas mileage, I'll be happy with these mufflers. Thanks JTC!!! Much appreciated.

No problem. Glad to see them go to a home where they wouldn't be gutted or molested in any way...

Got in touch with Jardine, they told me that the muffler isn't made for my VFR anymore.

They did tell me though they have a sound deadener attachment for 30 dollars and the repack kit is a requirement to ensure the muffler performs properly. Thanks for the idea of checking for a fiberglass repack of the muffler. Another thing to add to my to do list.
