quick shock question

would a shock off a 1st or 2nd gen VFR fit a 3rd gen . Ive been offered a early gen Ohnlins shock and wonder if it will fit my 3rd gen.

any help would be great

 

NO. The 90-92 had one size, and the 93, had its own.

I modified the shock from a ZX750 to fit (shimmed the holes) and had it rebuilt and put a VFR750 spring on it. It was still a little light in damping, but about 1/2" longer, so it worked OK.

Last year I picked up the correct Ohlins HO002 for my 93 and its damped better, and used a Hyperpro spring.

I still have the ZX shock (external remote and cylinder with VFR750 spring) if interested. Had not thought about selling it as I was GOING to use it on a project, but got stalled, so I could part with it.
