Hello, I am going to look at a 98 VFR800 tommorow. They are only asking $3300 for it. It has 20,00 miles. Did all of the 98's come with fuel injection? or was that an option. If so is there a way I could tell if it has it or not? Any other suggestions about what to look for would be appreciated. Thanks.

All 98s have fuel injection. You will see what looks like a choke and it basically is but on an FI bike it's really a fast idle switch helps warm up the bike. On 00 and later models it's automatic.

20k isn't too many miles for a VFR. I'd check the normal things chain wear, fork seals, look for leaks, etc.. Should be about time for a valve check/adjustment ask if it's had one. Doesn't sound like a bad deal as long as it's not a salvage bike or has excessive cosmetic damage.

Another thing worth checking is the charging system, check that the headlights brighten up when you rev up the bike. If not this could indicate a bad voltage regulator.

Bike sounds like a good deal

20,000 miles on the odometer is hardly a new bike, you should change your topic.

That bike should have gone through at least one valve adjustment, the second one should be coming up at 24K miles.

Check the wheel bearings and steering bearings while the bike is parked on the centerstand.

Probably needs new sprockets, front and rear if now a new chain to go along with the sprockets.

$3300 isn't bad if all the above are in decent shape.

Have you purchase the bike already?
