Questions about 2003 VFR800 and ABS brakes

I have a 2007 with ABS, and the caliper is gold. Is that true for a 2003 with ABS? My friend is looking at a 2003 with ABS, and the caliper is not gold, so how do you tell if it really has ABS?

 

On the instrument panel, mine has a light (in the row of dumby lights near the FI light) that says "ABS"

The ABS model also has a remote adjustment knob for the rear suspension just above the right rear footpeg. The non-abs model does NOT have this.

The remote adjustment knob is not a true give away, I actually put a Jamie Daugherty modified ABS shock on my bike and it does not have ABS, but for the most part Rollin's statement is typically true.
