...or for readers of UK motorcycle sportbike mags such as bike and others. BTW, I love those mags, MUCH better than US bike mags IMO.

I have a curiosity which I cannot seem to answer myself. UK is metric, speeds in KPH, weights in KG, and so on. Well, how come several of these sportbike mags will have the weights and height in metric, but they have fuel mileage in MPG and top speed in MPH, instead of KPG, or KPH....why is this? They will also do the 1/4 mile times as well I have seen. The magazine is not specifically made for the US to my knowledge as other measurements are taken in metric, and not standard. Has the US had this much influence, or am I just crazy, or both?

First few points you are wrong on.
    1. uk is not metric.
    2. speeds are MPH in the uk
    3. weights are in lbs.

The EU is trying to force the metric system on the UK and in some areas have succeeded. Most shops now do their weights in metric but you can also find places that do lbs and oz. All distances are in miles, and all speeds in MPH, that will never change lol. So you're not crazy, just misinformed.

Thanks for clarifying and making me look like a fool John! haha!

I guess I was mostly confused because they use metric for some things, and standard for other things. You clarified it. Sounds like they are in a mix of things (kinda like us) for now.

Don't get me wrong, they have been introducing metric measurements for things like petrol/gas which has been in litres for a few years now, but shops still sell items in lbs as well as kgs. There is more chance of the UK voting for a president than there is of good old MPH and miles changing to KPH and kms lol

Nice thing about motorcycling in the UK is that you won't get in the wrong side to drive, like I did in a Vauxhall on a recent trip.
I let my Brittish counterparts do the driving after that move! I think I would have wrecked inside of 5 intersections or roundabouts if I managed to get behind the wheel.:brick:
